Google continues to integrate its new assistant, Gemini, into its various devices — and this time, it's the turn of smartwatches. After smartphones, Google has decided to replace Google Assistant with Gemini on Wear OS watches, starting with the Pixel Watch 2.
The Pixel Watch 2 is the first smartwatch to receive this update, allowing users to use Gemini instead of the traditional voice assistant. Gemini offers more advanced features, such as better contextual understanding and the ability to perform more complex tasks.
However, this change won’t be limited to the Pixel Watch 2. It is expected to later extend to other Wear OS smartwatches, such as those made by Samsung and Fossil.
This move aligns with Google's strategy to strengthen generative AI across all its devices and services — although some users may prefer to stick with the traditional Google Assistant for its simplicity and speed with basic commands.
